Lucio (Edoardo Pesce), the host of a popular radio show, is confident, witty, and progressive in his thinking. He is married to the beautiful Elena (Valentina Lodovini), who is insecure and emotionally dependent on her husband. Together, they have a harmonious blended family—which includes Lucio’s first wife and daughter—and one son: Blu (Daniele Scardini), a 9-year-old boy who loves dressing up as a girl. He is allowed to do so, with the approval of both his parents, but only at home.
However, when the school play approaches, Blu insists on wearing a Little Mermaid costume. His parents, torn between wanting to support him and wanting to protect him, are forced to reconsider their own open-mindedness. This marks the beginning of a journey of awareness and acceptance, guided by a welcoming psychologist (Michela Andreozzi) and shared with a diverse group of “Unicorn Parents.”
